Maybe your device is faulty? I have the same setup and it works great.

Pro > p5mate > xim apex > DS4 + mouse and keyboard

xim apex is not faulty, it works when I plug it in alone. PS mate was working when it first came, then it suddenly disconnected and did not work again.
